Handcream For A Generation by Cornershop
Released: May 07 2002
Quite simply in the words of their renowned U.S. agent Bob Lawton, "It is the best album of the year, whatever year it comes out." We therefore, do not think you will be disappointed!
Tjinder Singh wrote and produced all 13 songs, which incorporate Cornershop's trademark electric-boogie mix of styles. Handcream for a Generation features Oasis' Noel Gallagher on the 14-minute epic "Spectral Mornings," original Oasis bassist Guigsy on the first single, "Lessons Learned From Rocky I to Rocky III," and U.S. soul legend Otis Clay on opener "Heavy Soup." Turntablist Rob Swift of New York's X-Men also joined Tjinder in co-producing "Wog.com" and "Slip The Drummer One."
The new release is Cornershop's first with their old friends at Beggars Group (US). Cornershop reluctantly left Luaka Bop, home to the 1997's When I Was Born For The 7th Time, 1995's Woman's Gotta Have It, and Tjinder Singh's Clinton album, following Luaka Bop's affiliated label change from Warner Bros. to Virgin Records.
