The Best Of Lisa Gerrard by Lisa Gerrard

Released: May 01 2007

Globally known for her award-winning major film scores, Lisa Gerrard is also highly respected for her solo work, collaborations with Irish composer Patrick Cassidy, and as a member of Dead Can Dance. The Best of Lisa Gerrard presents key moments from twenty-five years, including Dead Can Dance, scores from numerous award-winning motion pictures such as GladiatorWhale Rider, and Ali, and a selection from her acclaimed solo and collaborative albums. Each song on this 13-track retrospective was selected and sequenced by Gerrard, resulting in a seamless album that offers insight into her musical output.

“Singing in the ancient tongues of Gaelic and Aramaic to soaring chords and tribal drums, the listener is transported through a beautiful portal into a timeless realm of trance and transcendence. Sometimes the backing is just voices, and at others huge orchestral tides flow in and out with Gerrard’s voice riding the wave’s crest like a goddess”
-THE BIG TAKEOVER

“Listening to Lisa Gerrard sing is a lot like watchinG actress Cate Blanchett sweep through the film Elizabeth – it’s a stunning, flawless performance, alive with the trappings of royalty and tinged with the aura of bygone times. Try as you might, you just can’t fault it.”
