El Guincho To Star in Nicolás Mendez Directed Film

'Bombay' to Air On Wednesday September 23

EL Guincho not only has a new album out -- entitled Pop Negro (it was released on 9/14 via Young Turks) -- but he will also be starring in a film whose release is scheduled for 2011. Entitled 'Bombay' it was directed by Nicolás Mendez and it is the film interpretation of the album. The name of the film is taken from the first single from Pop Negro.

A trailer for the film is now being released. The track “Bombay” is the soundtrack for this first trailer. IFC has premiered it today, Wednesday, September 23, 2010 and it can be viewed here:

While most people know of El Guincho – whose name is Pablo Díaz-Reixa – as a musician he came to music after being a published author (before he was 20) and was working on a masters in Film at the Barcelona Film School before he found his calling with music. His debut album, Alegranza! was released in 2008 and Pop Negro is the follow up.

It was tracked in four different studios, in Berlin, Madrid, Gran Canaria and Barcelona and was mixed by Jon Gass.

El Guincho is confirmed to tour the US with the first date at New York City’s Mercury Lounge on Tuesday September 28. Full tour dates are listed below.
