To hell with Black Friday. We’ll spend November 26 working off our Turducken hangovers at independent record shops.
Why?
Because a handful of participating indie retailers across the nation will be celebrating VIOLET FRIDAY with us by offering you, for one day only, the chance to pick up The National’s High Violet (Expanded Edition) two-disc set for only $7.99!!

Yea. That’s right.

Hear ye, hear ye: Blonde Redhead performing live today on WNYC Soundcheck

November 2nd, 2010 by Jeremy G

Indeed, NYC’s favorite trio-featuring-twins Blonde Redhead will soundtrack your Election Day with a live session for WNYC’s Soundcheck show today at 2PM. Their set begins a bit after 2:30PM, but John Schaefer and his Soundcheck gang always make for good listening, so go ahead and tune in right at 2PM. You can click over to their site to listen online or tune that radio to 93.9FM in the NYC area (or 820AM if you’re super old school and don’t care at all about fidelity).

Also, don’t miss Blonde Redhead live this week, playing two shows at Webster Hall tomorrow night and Thursday night.

That’s right, the Berkeley/NYC bi-coastal rock outfit the morning benders will be wowing the listeners of KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic in a mere 10 minutes. The band is on the front end of their US headlining tour, and are taking time out of their busy schedule to play 30 minutes of live material. Tune in to 89.9FM in the greater Los Angeles area, or, if you are stuck in your cube farm, click over to their website and catch all the pure pop goodness live.

Pantha du Prince Pizza Party on East Village Radio today at 5:00PM EDT

June 17th, 2010 by Hector

I wasn’t able to cram quite as much alliteration into the subject line for this post as I wanted. The fact, however, remains that the one and only Pantha du Prince will be making a rare US radio appearance today at 5:00PM EDT on East Village Radio‘s Pizza Party, where hosts Max and Kevin will talk to the artist also known as Hendrik Weber about the making of his new album, Black Noise. Tune in at eastvillageradio.com.

Those of you who are reading this and thinking, “What the deuce? I thought Pantha du Prince lived in Germany! What is he doing in New York?” should be aware that while Mr. Weber is indeed based in Germany, he is in town to play his first New York show in three years tonight at Santos Party House. You should further be aware that there is still time for you to get tickets to what is sure to be one of those shows people talk about for years to come and make all their friends jealous because it was just that awesome.

P.S. As you can see from the handy flyer above, those of you in Los Angeles have a chance to live the Pantha du Prince experience for yourselves tomorrow night. Don’t miss it.
