Until now, we knew very little about the rough and tumble "Watertown Scene" (as it will be coined by the NME this coming January). Drawing heavily from 2005 post-oatmeal-sludge-rock, the sounds are both sludgy and rocky (but in a most un-Melvins way).
The vanguards of the Watertown Scene scene are up-and-comers Faceless Man. Among the MySpace updates from FM are a new banner ad (compliments of MyBannerMaker.com), new photos of their new keyboard and a new song "Worn" (845 plays and counting and a massive hit with long-time fan Mike).
Like any scene, Watertown wouldn’t be popping off without a beef (anybody who was in Halifax in the early 90s will tell you this). And according to the comments, the men in Faceless Man have issues with the massively popular (856 friends and counting) and slickly produced When We Were Seven.
Check out the comments because Mike testifies: "Dude, WWW7 is full of pussies. don’t worry about them. Keep up the good work, Worn sounds great."
Folks, just remember where you heard about the Watertown Scene first. Check out the jams – http://www.myspace.com/facelessman2008
Props to Barnhart for the A&R tip.
