Don’t miss St. Vincent live on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic today

February 10th, 2010 by Jeremy G

KCRW’s fund drive has just finished, but that won’t stop Annie Clark from invading the studio for a Morning Becomes Eclectic session today at 11:15AM PST/2:15 EST. Tune in on 89.9FM (and the assorted repeater frequencies) in Southern California or online and listen to St. Vincent work through songs from Actor, with perhaps a surprise or two thrown in for good measure. And if you haven’t seen the stellar video for the new single “Laughing With A Mouth Of Blood” (starring Fred Armisen and Sleater-Kinney’s Carrie Brownstein, as well as Annie herself), you should definitely click through on that, as it’s pretty much good times for all.

New York gets itself a lot of Mountain Goats action this week. If you weren’t at last night’s sold-out Webster Hall show, you’ll hopefully be at tonight’s sold-out Bell House show. And if you can’t make it to that one either, or if you’re like us and you just can’t get enough Goats, you may want to move it on over to the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre tonight for the latest installment of WFMU’s Seven Second Delay, which will feature a solo performance by the one and only John Darnielle.

The show starts at 6PM, and if you’re too cheap to pay the $5 admission fee or too inconveniently-located to make it, you can always listen at 91.1FM (or 90.1FM if you live in the mysterious “Hudson Valley”), and of course the online-inclined are encouraged to tune in at wfmu.org.

If you’re not hep to the latest Mountain Goats jive, the Best New Music’d The Life Of The World To Come, you can remedy that at our webstore.

The Life of the World IN FLUX

October 8th, 2009 by Adam F

John was very gracious (and maybe a bit out of his mind) to let us package the demos from the Life Of The World To Come with a couple of retailers.

For those in the US, you can go to ThinkIndie.com (the official digital store for a coalition of indie stores) and get the demos as a bonus download for the same price as a single album.

The always-enchanting Annie Clark, aka St. Vincent, will be stopping by KDHX in St. Louis tonight to play some songs on The Space Parlour. Non-St. Louisans can listen at kdhx.org. Those of you who can see the Arch from your house have the option of tuning in at 88.1 FM. Afterward, might I suggest you head over to the Firebird to see St. Vincent headline there? Tickets appear to still be available.

Indeed, in less than one short hour, starting at 2PM EDT, you can listen to the lovely lads and lasses of Camera Obscura and their session on World CafĂ©. Full of Scottish pop goodness, it is sure to inject your day with joy. Or at least thirty minutes of good music and cutting wit. Listen on WXPN in Philadelphia (88.5FM), on an NPR-related station in your ‘hood, or online. It’ll be worth your while.
