John was very gracious (and maybe a bit out of his mind) to let us package the demos from the Life Of The World To Come with a couple of retailers.
For those in the US, you can go to ThinkIndie.com (the official digital store for a coalition of indie stores) and get the demos as a bonus download for the same price as a single album.

October 7th, 2009 by Mike VMColin MacIntyre (MHS) in NYC tonight!
October 7th, 2009 by Lisa GLast night I went to see former XL recording artist Colin MacIntyre play at the Living Room in NYC. He used to record / perform under the name Mull Historical Society but now he’s using his real name, not his place of birth / growing up. Anyway – he was amazing … a great songwriter and a charming fellow besides.   If you are in NYC and have some free time tonight you should check out his show at Union Hall in Brooklyn.   He’s playing songs from his new album and all previous ones. Haven’t gotten “Watching Xanadu” out of my head yet!

Jack Penate gets down with Jason Bentley on Morning Becomes Eclectic today
October 5th, 2009 by Jeremy G
Jack Penate and his band have been touring North America the past few weeks, kicking ass and taking names. Long before this current jaunt started, Jason Bentley, the general bossman of KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic, caught wind of Jack’s genius and once he saw this tour announced, invited the band in to perform live on MBE. The whole shindig goes live today at 11:15AM PDT (2:15PM PDT) with Jack and the boys (and girl) rocking out for thirty minutes and Bentley engaging them in banter between sets in that soothing baritone of his. Listen live terrestrially on 89.9FM in LA or get your click on at KCRW’s site and iTunes radio.
Catch the Mountain Goats live on WNYC’s Soundcheck today at 2PM
October 5th, 2009 by Jeremy G
Their new album The Life Of The World To Come may not hit shelves until tomorrow, but John Darnielle will be offering up two stripped down renditions of tracks from that wondrous new record today on WNYC’s Soundcheck with John Schaeffer. The show goes live at 2PM EDT on 93.9FM in the greater NYC area or online at WNYC.org and don’t miss The ‘Goats as they launch their album in style with a live performance tomorrow evening on The Colbert Report on Comedy Central.
