Watch Holy Fuck live from Lollapalooza Friday, August 1!

July 31st, 2008 by Jeremy G

That’s right, our favorite Canadian electro-indie rockers will be lighting up the Lollapalooza stage in the heat of the day Friday, August 1, at 12:15PM Central Daylight Time. While we wish we could be there in Chicago to root them on, we take solace on knowing that we can watch their set from the comfort of our air-conditioned offices, courtesy of AT&T Blue Room. Check out the band’s set here when they go live at 12:15PM CDT.

Sigur Rós @ MoMA…a Current TV (but timeless) music special!

July 29th, 2008 by Todd N

Sigur Rós at the Museum of Modern Art (NYC) celebrating Icelandic Independence and the release of their new album Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust? You’re sold, you’ll totally go to that, right?  Unfortunately this very special show already happened.  Fear not though, the good people of Current TV were there to document it and will be sharing what they captured on Tue, Aug 5th (10pm EST / 7pm PST).  Damn that’s still a week away.  No worries, get your Sigur Rós/MoMA fix here courtesy of MoMA’s PopRally and be sure to tune into Current TV on Aug 5th for the full monty.  Enjoy!

Jarvis Cocker’s Musical Map Of Sheffield

July 28th, 2008 by Adam F

While the press department is still thumbing Tiger Beat-style through mid-90s issues of the NME, a friend of mine turned me on to this recent Radio 2 feature called "Jarvis Cocker’s Musical Map Of Sheffield". It’s a collage of music, talkovers and ethereal sound bites.  It’s a trippy trip for sure AND educational.

Unfortunately, it’s no longer on the BBC’s website and it would be completely rude (and well, illegal) for me to up the mp3 I found of it, you can probably find it on the Internets using this web site.

Let the energy drink wars begin or will blog for caffeine

July 24th, 2008 by Matt H

GURU Energy Drink has entered the fray this week when they sent us a few mixed cases of their tasty beverage for the Beggars staff to sample.

This move puts them in a head to head taste battle with our good friend Lil’ Jon and his CRUNK! Juice which had quickly become an office fav a few months back — ask Dave Martin whose currently drinks no less than three a day before he starts screaming down the phone at indie record stores.

Well… we iced’em down and and got down to business with some GURU and I’d have to say personally that they have made a believer out of me.  Guru goes down smooth and I mean SMOOTH and I’m way more into flavor varieties (Superfruit Juicy being my favorite with faint hints of Hawaiian Punch).

Regarding the energy level boosting capabilities — well let’s just say that the office has been this productive in quite some time. Miwa knocked out four tour support budgets in less than 30 minutes, Helen sold nearly 8,000 more copies of the new Fucked Up EP in two phone calls and Adam… well to see what GURU did for Adam just check it out below.

LL Cool J(arvis)

July 24th, 2008 by Lisa G

Jarvis Cocker just came by the office — he played at  both Music Hall Of Williamsburg and Terminal 5 earlier this week – and we were all a-titter.  Especially the interns when he dropped by their area inspring them to pack up those mailings even quicker.  Our palms haven’t been this sweaty since just last week when Damon Albarn paid us a visit!!
