Beefsville: Walters Vs. Green Hits Fever Pitch

February 29th, 2008 by Hank The Intern

When I did my annual tune-in to the Pre-Oscars Barbara Walters Special, I figured it would be all love with Ellen Page.  But when Barbara admitted "I just don’t get it" about the Moldy Peaches phenomenon, you could almost hear the sound of 115,265 iTunes customers gasping.

I knew right then and there, it would be ON.

How could America be so wrong, Babs?  Think about the catalog priced and positioned through May!?!?!?

Well, ex-Moldy Peaches member Adam Green has officially responded in an interview with Entertainment Weekly and taken this beef to free publicity levels not seen since Kanye vs. Fiddy.

Adam Green to Barbara Walters:  "You Dropped A Bomb On Me"

PS:  Sixes & Sevens drops on March 18th.  Much love to radio and retail for supporting that shit.

Taken By Trees west coast dates + the new official theme song for next year’s Westminister Kennel Dog Show

February 28th, 2008 by Matt H

Our favorite Swedish songstress Victoria Bergsman and her band slayed them last week, here on the East Coast, with equal parts style and grace. Now those lucky enough to reside in the following markets should consider warned. (West Coast dates starts tonight ya’ll, so don’t sleep)

2/28 – Los Angeles – Roxy
3/01 – San Francisco, CA – Great American Music Hall
3/04 – Seattle, WA – Triple Door

** White Hinderland opening all shows

We’ve also being thinking that we might give a promo MP3 of the recent TBT cover of "Sweet Child O’Mine" that the band have been selling on tour, and is available here, here and at fine retailers everywhere.  But we thought the song would be best listened to via the winning entry of our most recent "Make the Video" contest.

Teenagers Shoot “Love No” Video

February 27th, 2008 by zp

Coming off a successful stint in the good ol’ US of A, our favorite Parisian’s, The Teenagers, found a few spare hours and a space in Brooklyn to film a risque little number for their track, "Love No". Here’s a few pics stolen from the MTV Subterranean blog (who was there). As for the video, expect lollipops, ice cream, rollerskating, and a ton of making out!

Sidekick Thief Tracked Down Via MySpace: We Can’t Even Make This Shit Up

February 27th, 2008 by Adam F

The NY Post has a story today that reads more like an advertorial in Filter Magazine circa 2005 replete with Sidekickstm, MySpacetm, Fubutm and Bedford Avenue.

But a social networking sleuth named Yudelka Polanco tracked down the guy who jacked her Sidekick and used MySpace to do it.  The meat of the story is this:

"He had signed on to his e-mail with my SIM [subscriber identity module] card still in the phone," said Polanco. She turned on her computer and began her detective work.

"I put his e-mail address into MySpace – because nowadays everybody has MySpace," she said.

"I found his picture, but it was a picture of him from the side, and I wanted police to have something better."

So Polanco actually got another cute gal pal to start an online friendship with the mugger – who cops say is Victor Hernandez, 16. The friend was able to collect more pictures and information on him.

We wish we had the picture of the banger-doufus that was in paper (rough approximation above right) but if you want to have your mind truly blown, The Post online has the details.

SXSW Scheduling Made Easy

February 25th, 2008 by Adam F

We’ll be unveiling some serious mobile web 2.9 widgetry soon. But for you planning types, you can use our friend Taylor’s little SXSW scheduling tool to figure out what to see and when.  It’s see, click, print.  Super easy style.

Because really, standing on 6th Street fumbling through a copy of the Chronicle will only invite the attention of the SharpieTM street team.

We’re Hiring An IT Person (God Bless Their Soul In Advance)

February 25th, 2008 by Adam F

UPDATE:  WE’VE BEEN OVERWHELMED WITH RESUMES AND HAVE ENOUGH CANDIDATES IN THE TILL.

Ever wanted to run desktop support for people who can hardly check their email? From the HR department:

I.T. support role

Beggars Group has been one of the most influential independent record companies in North America over the last 30years. Within the group’s fine record labels – 4AD, Beggars Banquet, Matador, Rough Trade and XL Recordings, to name a few, are some of the world’s best recording artists:  from Bahaus ,Gary Numan,The Cult,The Fall, through Modern English,The Pixies, Gotan Project, Lemon Jelly, Interpol,The Prodigy , to Yo La Tengo, Cat Power, Adele, Vampire Weekend ,Sigur Ros and many more, is a depth of quality not found anywhere else.

We are currently recruiting for I.T.support in our New York office. Like our labels, this is slightly different.

We need an enthusiastic Apple support who is not afraid of Windows, who can handle hardware and software roles with calm efficiency and isn’t fazed by networks, servers or printer issues. We have a high percentage of mobile staff, so laptop to smart phone, desktop to router, you will deliver.

Not only will you work in our New York office, which is newly fitted, running a gigabit LAN and private LES circuits to our offices in Europe, you will travel 6 to 8 weeks a year through those offices working with colleagues with the same passion to give the best to the best.

Ah Huh, Ah huh… NY-LI-HONDA.COM

February 24th, 2008 by Matt H

Since President’s Day passed nearly one week ago, I thought that I had missed my chance to share this commercial with everyone. Thankfully LI Honda’s thought the sale was just too dope to end yet. And ever since Dave Martin’s discovery of the Optimum cable network’s reggaeton commercial I’ve been scouring the dial for equally engaging local commercials

So in the spirit of Petland Discount and Crazy Eddie’s commercial of yore… we present LI Honda’s

President’s Day’s Sale Commercial

"One of the ten best cars from Car & Driver,

Stingy with gas and very reliable"

and is that John Adams grabbing his crotch?!
