We snuck some photos at the recent shooting of The National’s upcoming video for "Apartment Story" at a church rec-room in Brooklyn.  Yes, it looks a lot like the album cover.  No, that’s not really the idea.  Expect it to premiere on an Internet near you very soon.

Our favorite Icelandic mainframe-classical-mashup savant, Jóhann Jóhannson, just posted some pictures from his recent trip to Japan where he played a few shows at the Miraikan Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation.   And as we’ve always told you, our man goes as heavy on the smoke machine as anyone in classical music these days. 

And as long as we’re talking about Iceland, have you all seen this? They don’t need fog machine to make awesome.

We get your emails.  More often these days it’s to get a profile for The National up on some "social networking scheme’d out Web 2.0 viral user generated long-tail" website.  But thankfully, we also get this kind of stuff.  Some dude who goes only by the name "DEEP HOOKS" just sent an mp3 called "sEaHoRsE" over the transome.  We sat with it, tried to understand it and then – immobilized by a state of perplexion – have decided to post it for all you people to be equally perplexed.   This is most likely the first re-mix of Devendra’s "Seahorse (MP3)" and most definitely the sound of someone going insane.

We are beginning to get a bit ticked off by folks biting on our artistic styles.  I mean, we understand that Common is pissed that he didn’t score the highly coveted New Pornographers opener slot this fall but there has got to be a better way to channel your anger then impersonating a diminutive, Scottish singer-songwriter and indie label owner on your album cover.

"Common sense"? "Intelligent hip-hop"? We beg to differ.

Please let it be known that our bands know the meaning of the word "work" and the words "one for the fans" and also the words "good times".

The National will be doing a meet and greet followed by a short acoustic set at Park Ave. Cds in Orlando. All the actions begins on Monday, September 10th at 6pm. Check them out later that night live at The Club @ Firestone.
